Bradfer-Lawrence: a different kind of collection
Bradfer-Lawrence: A very Different Kind of Collection
Yorkshire Archaeological Society has been awarded a grant of £49,900 by the Heritage Lottery Fund to open up access to one of its collections of archives. The project began in June 2004.
Project aims:
- To compile an online catalogue of the collection, freely available to all on the A2A (Access to Archives) database at www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a
- To conserve one of the treasures of the collection, the 15th century Fountains Abbey Stock Book
- To create a website featuring images of selected documents to show the variety and scope of the collection
The work has been undertaken by the project coordinator and project manager, with help from a number of volunteers. The conservation of the Stock Book was undertaken by specialists at the Wakefield Headquarters of the West Yorkshire Archive Service.
